01 / Research studies
A question deserves more than a headline.
A historical record can establish that a property was sold without revealing what its owner lost. A photograph can preserve an Armenian architect’s work without proving that the building belonged to his family. Our studies follow these distinctions closely, connecting individual records with the wider history of the Armenian Genocide.
Study 01 · Economic history & dispossession
Armenian Wealth, Confiscation and Loss
What can the surviving evidence tell us about Armenian wealth before the Genocide, the property taken, and its value in present-day US dollars? Begin with the amiras of Constantinople, architectural work, provincial commerce and the records of confiscation.

Version 1.0 · Evidence and valuation framework · 6 November 2026
This first edition distinguishes established findings from questions requiring further archival work. It does not claim a final valuation.
02 / Research practice
Sources you can follow.
Methods you can examine.
Start with the record
We identify the author, date, place and scope of the evidence. Archival documents, scholarship and institutional descriptions play different roles; a source is not strengthened simply by being repeated.
Show the calculation
Financial estimates need a dated amount, a defined asset and an explicit conversion method. Purchasing power, replacement cost and lost income are examined separately.
Keep uncertainty visible
A missing record is a research gap. A proposed estimate is not an audited total. Where sources disagree, we explain the difference and identify what would resolve it.
Preserve the revision trail
Each study carries its own publication date, edition and account of changes. New evidence can expand or correct a finding without hiding how the interpretation developed.
